The stars were aligned on Saturday for a beautiful evening celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. After being greeted by our own personal astronaut, Rob Campbell, imaginations were stirred by stimulating exhibits, moon crafts and loot bags for the kids, space films, moon music and startling images about the moon landing. It was hard not to be in awe of the universe and our place in it.

More than one Cedar-Springer said they were now going home to learn even more about astronomy and the moon in particular.

Janet Myers demonstrated considerable lunar knowledge with a perfect score on the moon trivia contest! After a roaring countdown, a cake depicting the moon landing was cut and Springers formed a circle to watch young and old demonstrate their best moon dance. Prizes were awarded but no one will soon forget John Brouwer’s moves on the dance floor.

Jim Wilcox generously set up his powerful telescope on #1 fairway for views of Jupiter and Saturn – rings and all.

Thanks to a marvelous committee made up of Rob and Jane Campbell, Kassia and Michael Hamp, Jann Ashley and George Corneil, Brad Crawford, Melanie Hellstern, Jim Wilcox, Mike Cochrane and Rita Lemieux.
